Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders (MSF) officially launched medical activities in the equatorial Pacific island nation of Kiribati in October 2022. Our team there, including a paediatrician, midwife and general practitioner, support the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.

A Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) supported hospital in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, Sudan, has been looted.

There have been reports from El Geneina of widespread looting, destruction, and burning of property, including at camps where displaced people are living. Sylvain Perron, MSF deputy operations manager for Sudan, gave the following statement today.

Pregnant women from refugee communities in Malaysia have limited access to adequate maternal healthcare services, such as antenatal and postnatal care, skilled birth attendants, emergency obstetric care, and family planning services, leading to a high rate of maternal mortality.

Over the past 48 hours, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), has received a total of 136 wounded patients at the hospital it supports in El Fasher, North Darfur – 11 have died from their injuries.
