Activities
The day-to-day responsibilities and activities of this role include:
- Collecting clinical data and make use of management tools to share information with medical staff
- Guide and training locally hired staff such as doctors and nurses
- Assessing surgical risks through preoperative examinations; manage postoperative care and make postoperative rounds
- Submitting activity reports and manage data including patient files, forms, statistics, databases
- Manage and ordering pharmaceutical supplies and surgical equipment required for medical treatment
Requirements
- Compliance with the essential criteria for all potential candidates
- A Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent
- At least two years clinical experience as a consultant
- Reconstructive plastic surgery, microsurgery or orthopedic surgery with at least one year in burn and/or hand surgery
- Available for assignment for minimum of four weeks
- Have a current practising certificate and must display no recent gap in clinical experience greater than two years
- Willingness to abide by Médecins Sans Frontières medical protocols
Desirable
- For some of our interventions, proven experience in pediatric surgery is desirable
