We urgently need Emergency Doctors for Iraq and Yemen

MSF is recruiting Emergency Doctors Field-based in Yemen and Iraq for at least three months.

Main Purpose

As an MSF Emergency Room (ER) Doctor, you will supervise the functioning of the Emergency Department (ED), from arrival to admission/discharge of patients, according to the objectives of the project and in collaboration with the other hospital departments.
 

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide and ensure that the best patient care is given through emergency case management, protocol implementation and ensuring compliance with medical ethics
  • Manage and organise the ED through supervision and organisation of all emergency activities and staff, including physicians and nurses
  • Maintain good communication and collaboration with other departments within and outside the hospital, including the referral system
  • In collaboration with the ED team, establish a triage system and ensure quality by training staff, and adapting and evaluating the system
  • Assure implementation of Mass Casualty Incident Plan with the medical team
  • Implement quality assurance tools to ensure compliance with MSF standards, policies, guidelines and protocols
  • Ensure quality of care through regular staff training, meetings and evaluations
  • Data collection, analysis, monitoring and reporting to improve the quality of care
 
Depending on our activities and needs, your responsibilities may be adapted and evolve according to the specifics of each project.
 
You will not be facing these challenges alone—other MSF team members, both international and locally hired staff, will provide technical support, including extensive guidelines and protocols.
 

Your Profile

  • Medical doctor degree
  • Emergency Medicine specialization or Intensive Care Unit or Anesthetist specialization
  • Recent clinical experience of at least six months within the last 24 months
  • Fluency in English
  • Available for a minimum of three months
  • Strong team player and able to work in a multicultural team
  • Flexible and able to manage stress
  • Self-driven with a solution-orientated approach
  • Ability to train others

Assets

  • Experience of setting up an Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit, and technical inputs for complex cases
  • Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or advanced trauma life support (ATLS) training
  • Experience working in developing countries
  • People management experience
